I'm a Slacker

It's been over a month since I updated. I really need to stop doing that. Of course the last month has been crazy. The 19th was my birthday and The Man's birthday was the 21st. I am actually 2 days older than him. I'm robbing the cradle ;) The Man (who I'm now going to call Joe, cause that's his name) was supposed to come up the night before and we were going to spend a nice romantic night together to celebrate our birthdays. 2 days before Joe was supposed to come up, he ended up having something extremely important come up that he could not miss, so he had to cancel on me. Talk about horrible timing.

So I was all prepared to spend the night we were supposed to go out all alone, well with the 5 kids, but that's not the same, when I ended up getting a call from my mom (who lives in an apartment below me), saying that she fell and hurt herself. So I run downstairs and she has a bruise starting under her eye, a cut on her nose, a dislocated shoulder, and I had to call 911 for her. All a week before Christmas. She had a black eye, the cut on her nose wasn't too bad, but she's still in a sling for her arm.

The next day, my brother and his wife came from Ottawa. They are great, we had a wonderful time with them. Bug really took a liking to my sister in law. And they helped my mom with everything she needed, since she was the one armed woman. That was definitely something I had worried about.

On Christmas Eve, at 3am, I got up with Booger, because he is mean and still wakes up in the night at 14 months old, went to get him a bottle because I forgot before bed, and fell down the stairs. I hurt my wrist and ankle a little, but they were fine by the time I woke up for the day a few hours later. Booger was scared, since I was carrying him when I fell, but otherwise fine. Later in the day, my chest started hurting. It hurt bad. So off I went to the hospital after the kiddos went to bed. It turns out my little trip down the stairs collapsed part of my lung. I got home at about 2am Christmas morning and had to set up for the kids. At least it didn't take me long, I just had to grab the presents from down the stairs.

Christmas was fun. My kids are spoiled. Yadda yadda yadda

I bought a van the end of November. In order for a vehicle to be registered in my lovely province, they need to pass a safety inspection. I ended up spending almost as much on the repairs to pass the safety as I did on the van in the first place. That was fun. Jessi's husband did most of the repairs, although he ended up breaking his foot and couldn't do the last bit. It went to the garage on Friday, I picked it up yesterday and now I have a vehicle. Yeah!! I tried it out last night by going to McDonald's with Joe and the 4 youngest kids, then bringing Vi to Girl Guides. So I know it works.

So to recap the activities of the klutz fairy last month, my mom fell smashing her face on a bed frame resulting in a cut nose, black eye, and a dislocated shoulder. I fell down the stairs collapsing part of my lung. Jessi's husband rode the dog down their basement stairs and broke his toe and foot, and Joe slipped on some ice tearing cartilage in his knee and bruising it all over the place. I'm pretty sure co-ordination problems aren't contagious, but we're not exactly proving that point right now.
