S is for Penguin

The Boy and Bug are learning to read. They are actually in the same class, kind of. The Boy is in Senior Kindergarten all day, Bug is in Junior Kindergarten in the afternoon and for about an hour and a half they are in the same class. Anyway, they are learning their letter sounds, and The Boy can read a bit.

They learned a new song for the letter S. Something about a snake slithering on the ground and making a soft hissing sound. Sssssssss. Then Bug started going around naming things that start with S. Kind of like "sssssssssspaghetti, ssssssssssstory, ssssssssnake, sssssssssupper, sssssssssspenguin" Now there are a few problems with that last one. 1-we don't have any penguins in our house; 2-ssssssspenguin?; 3-penguin doesn't start with s, at least not the last time I checked; 4-sssssssspenguin? I still haven't quite figured that one out. She has been 4 for less than a week so I guess I should cut her some slack on this one. Maybe. Not next time though. Oh no, not next time bwahahahaha.

In other news, I was diagnosed with severe clinical depression today. Basically, that means I'm Eeyore. Woohoo for me. Only I haven't lost my tail. I do manage to lose my keys pretty much daily. I wonder if that counts. I'd rather lose my tail. I don't need a tail to be able to get the stroller out of the shed, or start the car. Although maybe I'm just missing out on the joys of a bum appendage. I guess I'll never know.
